I have been telling myself to write my darling Elise's birth story.. keep reminding myself. . Reminding and reminding. . So alas I say this procrastination must stop and so I will do it today.
Well, it was just the weekly routine check up on the 37th week (2nd april 2012), I did the normal blood pressure reading and weighted myself and if I must recalled, I stood at 89.8kg at that time. My first visit to the doctors was when I was about 6 or 8 weeks pregnant and was weighing about 58kg.
Then I proceed to the ladies where they had to take a sample or my urine for further test.. protein? Sugar? And yada yada.. When my turn was up, I happily went into the doctors room with the husband and littke did I know I was about to be told to admit myself. Anyway, the doctor told me that they have detected protein in my urine and my blood pressure was very high.. I had not had any protein ib my urine before but this time it had.. neither did I havr such high blood pressure.
When I was told I need to get myself checked in, I had a shocked! Literally!! Thank God my mom was outside waiting for me and I hurriedly called her to enter the room and get a confirmation. She said "do what is necessary, the doctor knows best". I tried to negotiate with the dr. I asked if I could come back tomorrow with my hospital bag since I weren't expecting to deliver so soon.
When the doctor checked me, the baby was already faced down not engaged, and I was already a centimetre dilated. The dr did not mention that what I had gone through was pre-eclampsia only later did I found out.
I was told to immediately to go get my urine sample again or to have my blood sample taken.. but because it was already after 5pm if not mistaken, I was sent to the E&A. I then had to wait to go in to the labour ward. I had to stay in the non active labour room. I stay there from 2nd april to the 4th where I then gave birth to my Darling Elise.
I had 3 pills inserted into me to help quicken the dilation process, 2 a day max, when I checked in it was about 6 ish pm and the doctor gave instructions to only insert it in at about 10ish.. (so there goes the first day & nite) I had a sleepless night that night although throughout my whole pregnancy I slept like a baby each night. The nurses had to visit me every other hour, the chattering of the nurses just outside, people giving birth in the middle of the night. I just lay down the bed, eager, nervous, in a lil teeny weeny bit of pain ( when the contractions kicked in not even in full force) helpless... They came and gone.. delivered .. baby crying out for the first time.. it was all I ever heard. Being in a labour room for that many days, I couldn't even catch a shut eye.. if it wasn't for the equipment that was attached to me.. I would've walked about.. but unfortunately dur to doctors & nurses order I was bed confined due to the high bp. Thank God I was allowed to take a shower and change.. otherwise I might have been a stinko in hospital.. The third day came, I was dilated only at 2 cm , and doctor's order were that if I hadn't been fully dilated I had to be induced and that the water bag will be burst indefinitely. I was the second patiebt to be doing that during my stay there. The first, however had to undergo emergency c-sec as it was too long.
